This free event is for BTO supporters and seabird enthusiasts in Northern Ireland. The evening will include an introduction to the new Northern Ireland Seabird Report and talks from invited speakers.

Join us for this year's Northern Ireland Seabird Report launch event!

We are returning to Bangor Castle thanks to Ards & North Down Borough Council and Coffee Cure for a programme of seabird-related talks, tea, coffee and buns.

We will introduce the hot-off-the-press Northern Ireland Seabird Report and celebrate the efforts of our volunteers and collaborators who underpin seabird monitoring in Northern Ireland, as well as have Niamh Esmonde give a presentation on her PhD work that focused on Manx Shearwaters.

Our launch events are a great opportunity to meet other seabird enthusiasts in Northern Ireland, the BTO Northern Ireland team, and to learn more about seabird monitoring and ecology.

Attendees will be the first to receive their very own hard-copy of the 2023 report!

The programme for the evening is:

18:00 - 18:10: Arrival and Welcome

18:10 - 18:15: Introduction of the new BTO NI Senior Research Ecologist

18:15 - 18:45: From Rocks to Rafts: Monitoring our internationally important seabird populations

18:45 - 19:15: Manx shearwaters at Copeland Bird Observatory over seven decades: ringing, trends, and ocean storms

19:15 - 19:35: Northern Ireland seabird counts 2023
